Role Overview:
As Assistant Buyer, you will play a key role in supporting procurement across a range of residential development projects. Working closely with the commercial team, you will help manage supplier relationships, coordinate material orders, and support efficient purchasing practices across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the procurement of materials and subcontractor packages for housing developments
Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring timely processing and delivery
Support the maintenance of supplier records and performance tracking
Liaise with site teams to ensure material requirements are met in line with build programmes
Monitor procurement schedules and contribute to cost reporting
Ensure compliance with internal procurement procedures and reporting standards
Support process improvement initiatives and commercial team collaboration
Requirements
Experience in a procurement, buying, or commercial support role within housebuilding, construction, or a similar environment
Strong organisational and communication skills
Comfortable using Microsoft Office and procurement/finance software
Ability to work well as part of a team and meet deadlines
A proactive and professional approach to problem-solving
CIPS qualification (or working towards) is advantageous
