About the Role
We are working with a well-established, design-led SME developer to find a proactive and detail-focused Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team. Based out of their Leatherhead head office, this role offers a unique blend of head office support, site-based involvement, and flexible work-from-home arrangements.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the commercial delivery of a variety of projects, from bespoke residential builds to mixed-use and commercial schemes, typically ranging from £500k to £5m in value.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with a lean and collaborative project team and wants real ownership and exposure across all stages of the construction process.
Responsibilities:
Assist with the preparation of cost plans, budgets, and tender documents
Support the procurement of subcontractors, materials, and services
Monitor project costs and provide accurate reporting to senior commercial leads
Contribute to valuations, variations, and final account settlements
Attend site meetings and liaise regularly with project managers and site teams
Help manage change control and identify potential cost-saving opportunities
Ensure projects remain commercially viable while maintaining build quality
Requirements
1–3 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying role (contractor or developer side)
Degree qualified or working towards (e.g. Quantity Surveying or similar)
Comfortable working across multiple projects and locations
Strong communication and organisational skills
Driven, adaptable, and willing to take ownership of responsibilities
Basic knowledge of residential or mixed-use developments is desirable
