About the Role

We are currently working with a highly reputable and design-led housebuilder based in High Wycombe, known for delivering exceptional, high-quality homes across the Home Counties. With a strong focus on detail, craftsmanship, and sustainability, the company continues to grow and strengthen its development pipeline.

They are now seeking an experienced Buyer to join their Commercial team, taking responsibility for the procurement and management of materials and supply chain agreements across multiple residential projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and commercially minded professional to join a supportive, growing business that values quality and teamwork.


The Role

Reporting to the Head of Commercial, you will be responsible for procuring and managing all aspects of materials and goods supply across assigned developments. This includes researching, negotiating, and implementing supply chain agreements for materials both directly and via subcontractors. The role offers excellent scope for progression within a stable and collaborative environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Source, negotiate, and manage supplier relationships to achieve best value and maintain high-quality standards.

  • Explore new suppliers, materials, and innovations within the construction industry.

  • Prepare accurate and comprehensive material schedules and purchase orders.

  • Manage procurement budgets, monitor spend, and report on material cost performance.

  • Conduct detailed tendering and cost analysis for materials and supply packages.

  • Support margin improvement through commercial negotiation and supply chain efficiencies.

  • Oversee materials scheduling, stock levels, and site call-offs to ensure smooth operations.

  • Attend project and commercial meetings, contributing to cost planning and coordination.

  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, contracts, and relevant legislation.

  • Support the Head of Commercial and Surveying teams with key material and subcontract procurement (e.g. kitchens, windows, drainage, renewables).

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar Buyer or Senior Buyer role within the residential housebuilding sector.

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.

  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and time management.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; COINS software experience desirable.

  • A proactive, collaborative team player with a solution-focused mindset.

  • Ideally qualified to HND or degree level in a relevant discipline (e.g. Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or Procurement)
