About the Role
We are currently representing one of the UK’s leading and most established housebuilders, a 5* national developer known for delivering high-quality homes and maintaining outstanding customer satisfaction. With a strong presence across the South East, they offer an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Senior Planner to join their regional team in Guildford.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting role within a busy, well-structured planning team, offering involvement in a broad range of projects across both strategic and immediate sites. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing planning applications, coordinating consultant teams, and negotiating with planning authorities to secure successful outcomes that enable continued growth across the region.
Key Responsibilities
Lead on the preparation and management of planning applications across multiple sites, from outline and full applications through to reserved matters, discharge of conditions, and S106 obligations.
Undertake site assessments, planning history reviews, policy analysis, and appraisals to support land acquisition and development decisions.
Liaise effectively with internal teams, external consultants, and local planning authorities to progress applications and build positive working relationships.
Prepare Design & Access Statements, planning statements, and supporting documentation to secure timely and deliverable consents.
Represent the business at stakeholder and public consultation events, ensuring professionalism and strong communication at all times.
Support the formulation and promotion of medium to long-term site strategies through the plan-making process.
Requirements
Proven experience managing complex planning applications, ideally within the housebuilding or development sector.
Degree or Master’s in Town Planning, with RTPI accreditation.
Solid understanding of UK planning policy and development management processes.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects to tight deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
Proactive, adaptable, and commercially minded with a collaborative approach.
Full UK driving licence required.
